I can hardly believe that 2006 is here! What an exciting and challenging time we live in. I can honestly and truly say that I have never before faced a year with as much hope and promise for myself, my family, and all those I know and love. There is so much to learn, so much to enjoy, so much work to be done, and so many fun and fulfilling experiences yet to have. The doomsayers would have us focus on all of the negative things that are happening in our world today, but how can we when there are so many beautiful and positive things to talk about and see. How about this for a very short list: We live on a beautiful planet with air to breathe, beautiful trees and flowers to look at, breathtaking mountains and lakes and oceans to inspire the mind, new technologies to improve our lives and clean up the environmental mistakes of the past, new medical breakthroughs and natural remedies that together are extending the lives of everyone on earth. New reasons to be kinder and more loving to those around us as we work to eradicate anger, jealousy, prejudice and hate from the earth forever! This said, I am always reminded that life was not ever meant to be easy. All of us face challenges of varying degrees. My hope and prayer is that we can all be blessed with renewed determination to accept, overcome and learn from our challenges and trials. To this end, I hope that we become stronger, better and smarter people. I love the analogy of the diamond. Think where the diamond, one of the most precious and prized possessions known to all, comes from and how we get it. Each diamond starts as a valueless, insignificant lump of coal. If someone offered you a small piece of black coal, what would you pay for it? Nothing. Now take that same piece of rock, add incredible pressure and heat, a great deal of time, and what do you have? Something of incredible value and strength, diamonds! Royalty array themselves in them and all people seek them for investment or as a gift or token of great appreciation or love. I even heard somewhere that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Consider this, diamonds are used in some of the most powerful and resilient cutting instruments. Indeed, with a diamond saw blade you can cut right through solid rock! We too must face challenges and trials that may seem unbearable, like heat and pressure. Some of our challenges and trials take much time to rise above and overcome. Then that day comes we can hold our heads high and feel the great self worth that comes when we have overcome and risen above. Truly, at that time, we are of great value to ourselves and those around us who are now themselves encouraged and inspired by what we have accomplished. Think of the new strength and ability to lead and inspire others, our new ability to cut through anything that is placed in our way. We are all priceless diamonds in the making! These last couple weeks while I have been at home, I was given the opportunity to attend and speak at a TNI opportunity meeting with our 2005 was a year of new discoveries of our potential, of many firsts. 2006 will be even more of the same, only better!
